Conference Weekend

As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we have the privilege of hearing from living prophets two times a year. Each April and October, a special conference is held and the general leaders of the Church offer prophetic counsel, wisdom, and revelation for members and non-members alike. It's a weekend that I look forward to like Christmas morning.

This weekend, Phil and I had the privilege of watching conference with my family. I felt so inspired by the talks that were given. Each leader has a specific style, background and knowledge. We even had leaders from around the world speaking in their native languages of Cantonese, Spanish, and Portuguese. However, all the talks seemed to correlate and helped me reflect on various principles of the gospel. 

My favorite talk was by President Uchtdorf. I'd try to explain what it was all about, but I'll let you watch it here. Here were some of my favorite quotes/thoughts. (These are from my notes, and probably not exact in all cases.)

• "Christ knew which way He faced and ultimately, that made him indistinguishable from His Father." Elder Robbins
• "It's because He is just that God has devised a place in His plan for mercy." Elder Christofferson
• "We do not discard something we know to be true because of something we do not understand... Spiritual questions deserve spiritual answers." Elder Andersen 
• "Treat your body like the temple it is." Elder Klebingat
• "I may not be my brother's keeper, but I am my brother's brother." Elder Holland 
• "Which is more important: Prayers or fruit?" Elder Perry
• "The value of a revelation is found when those who are being led receive confirming revelation." President Eyring
• "Walking where Jesus walked is far less important than walking as Jesus walked." President Monson 
• "Stay in the boat." Elder Ballard
• "If you continue to live as you are living, will the blessings in your patriarchal blessing be fulfilled?" Elder Godoy 
• "We must each obtain our spiritual passport." Elder Packer
• "Bring all that you know is true and test our message." Elder Bednar

Amazing counsel! I felt so inspired. In addition to all the wonderful talks, we got to spend time with family. The boys went to the Priesthood Session together. Aren't they cute?

We also enjoyed walks in the beautiful weather, I got to have lunch with my friends, and Phil had a throwback to childhood. All in all, we had a perfect couple days.

I am so grateful to be a member of the true and living church of God. I know that Christ stands at the head of this church. This weekend, I was inspired by His chosen leaders. I am not perfect in my testimony or in my daily actions but I love the Lord. I love His scriptures and I support and sustain His leaders. God lives and loves each of His children. He has a plan for each of us. I hope we always remember that.
