When Robin Comes to Play

Phil's sister, Robin, came to play in P-Town this last weekend. Oh man, did we have a fabulous time. Here are just a few of the highlights.

Robin got in Thursday afternoon and spent some time with Phil in class. After I got home from work, we wanted to show her some of the Provo culture. Luckily, the food truck roundup was going on that night. We headed over and had such a ball. They had pitas and lemonade and gourmet grilled cheese and tamales and donuts. This picture is an attempt to capture the woman in the tamale truck. Obviously I failed, but she was hilarious. She was using the bag of tamales to fan herself and kept yelling out the tiny window "Tamales! Tamales!" Such delight.

Tamales!!
Since Art City Donuts had some pumpkin spice donuts, we just had to get some dessert. I couldn't eat any (My doctor has put me on a new diet... Story for another post) but just having pumpkin spice in the vicinity made me so happy that fall is here. Phil and Robs definitely enjoyed them.

#sugaroverload
We spent the rest of the evening relaxing. Friday was great too! Phil took Robin to campus and showed her all the buildings and even his lab. I was sad to be at work but Phil made sure to take a picture for me.

Robin, meet Brigham.
After I got home from work, we went to an outdoor play in the JFSB courtyard. Oh my gosh, it was so awesome. Normally, I'm not a huge fan of Shakespeare, but this play was fantastic. There were five actors from various acting troops in London and each played multiple roles. They'd switch costumes quickly on stage to portray different characters. It started raining at intermission though. We had to go inside, but we loved it all the same.

Oh Shakespeare...
We decided that we hadn't given Robin enough sugar so we took her to Sodalicious. She's a fan.

Saturday was equally awesome. Phil and Robin went to hike the Y while I cleaned up at home and ran some errands. Luckily I didn't go because it started pouring about 30 minutes after they left. Here's what they looked like at the top.

Maybe They're Related
After Robin came home and cleaned up, we headed up to Salt Lake for the General Women's Session. We went shopping at City Creek and found some cute stuff for both Robin and me. We were tempted by this little gem.

Too Good for Words
Unfortunately, I left our umbrella at City Creek and we had to walk over with only our shopping bags for protection. Luckily there were some nice ladies who let us huddle with them in line, but we still got pretty wet.

The Women's Session was amazing! I feel so blessed to hear from modern leaders who are inspired by God. There were so many pieces of revelation that proved exactly what I needed. It makes me even more excited for General Conference next week.

After driving home in the crazy rain, we got to enjoy Cafe Rio with Phil and some Netflix. Sunday was great too. We took Robin to our ward and then on a walk to the duck pond south of campus. You're never too old to enjoy the duckies.

The weekend passed pretty quickly, but we were so glad that we got to bond with our lovely sister. We're so blessed to have a wonderful family.
